For over a century now, the charming Seabright beach cottages, stately Victorian houses and sprawling beach properties have been considered excellent real estate investments, mainly because of the nice weather of the east side Santa Cruz area, called Seabright, since it was settled in the late 1800s. Old timers still refer to Seabright beach as Castle Beach because the main entrance was once the location of the Scholl-Mar Castle from 1928-1967, which was a home on the bluffs overlooking the beach.
