For over a century now, the charming Seabright beach cottages, stately Victorian houses and sprawling beach properties have been considered excellent real estate investments, mainly because of the nice weather of the east side Santa Cruz area, called Seabright, since it was settled in the late 1800s. The founders realized that the natural beauty and tranquil setting made the area an ideal getaway from the hubbub of the rapidly growing neighboring communities, and laid plans early to make it the Seabright beach cottages accessible to visitors. While nearby Santa Cruz was a thriving community, many other little communities were being founded, such as Twin Lakes, and east Santa Cruz. Later as the area continued in popularity as a vacation spo,t Rio Del Mar beach homes along the shore started to be built, but much later in time. Seabright Victorian houses remain appealing because of the elegance that shaped the times when the Seabright area was developed. Many of these fine Seabright Beach homes have been kept in excellent repair through the years. The new Seabright beach cottages have retained the echoes of this elegant style developed in the 1920s, but have been upgraded to include all the modern conveniences.Many of the homes closest to the seashore are on small lots, which limits the size. Rio Del Mar on the other had lots of area to build and has some For those who want to build a brand new Seabright home, there are still plenty of Santa Cruz homes that can be remodeled to suit any taste. See some of the cute ones in an area called “The Avenues”, which is located off of Marine Parade and Atlantic Avenue.

Seabright vacation properties are ideal real estate investments because of the nearby attractions of the Santa Cruz Yacht Harbor and Santa Cruz Boardwalk. Since the Seabright beach is a popular place for weddings and receptions, large beach houses are frequently rented at top dollar to accommodate the wedding parties. The inventory for Seabright cottages and condominiums is limited, and cover a range of prices and features. Conversely the same appeal is for Rio Del Mar beach homes. While they are generally larger than Seabright beach homes, they too have a large beach available for fun in the sun and parties and events.

The cliffs over looking the Seabright beach cottages still feature some large elegant homes that reflect the quieter days of yesteryear. Old timers still refer to Seabright beach as Castle Beach because the main entrance was once the location of the Scholl-Mar Castle from 1928-1967, which was a home on the bluffs overlooking the beach. Many Seabright beach houses have retained some of the architectural flavor that has shaped Seabright’s character through the years.
